Publications and Research Output

From Plato 630 BC, utopian philosophy has explored how new societies may be forged and how communities may be imagined as both real destinations but also as imaginative non-places. Utopias exist in tension as they are both urgent, imminent, and derived from actual place-making - yet utopias are also ethereal, transient, and always existing on a distant horizon. My current research focuses on intersections between contemporary art and utopian idealism. This reflects an interest in physical spaces which embody and empower individuals to imagine new and divergent political realities whilst engaging with the creation of undiscovered and radical possibilities.
